The Cancer Council NSW raised over $10,000 at the blockbuster launch match of Call To Arms between Wests Tigers and Gold Coast Titans at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday, May 25.
Wests Tigers and the Gold Coast Titans players wore yellow armbands during the match to show their support for men with cancer.
Thousands of supporters in the crowd of 17, 493 followed the professional teams' lead by proudly wearing yellow armbands and making a gold coin donation to The Cancer Council.
A further $3600 was received from generous Wests Tigers sponsors who donated $600 per try.
Wests Tigers will now auction off the jerseys worn in the match by captain Brett Hodgson and forward Corey Payne. Supporters will soon be able to make a bid for the jerseys at Grays Online (http://www.graysonline.com.au/).
The Cancer Council is calling on all sport teams across the state to follow the Wests Tigers lead and strap on yellow armbands during a game during the month of June and help raise funds for men with cancer.
