Where the money goes

One in two Australian men will hear the words ‘you have cancer' - it could be you, or it could be your best mate.

By joining in Call To Arms, you'll help save the lives of men across the country. The funds you raise will help prevent, detect and treat cancers in men, as well as support men during their times of greatest need.

Every contribution, whether large or small, plays an important role in fighting cancer in men by supporting The Cancer Council's important cancer research, education and support programs:

$5 will enable us to provide a newly diagnosed cancer patient with important support and information resources to help them through their cancer journey - fully informing them about their disease, their treatment options and the local services available to them.

$10 will contribute to running the Cancer Council Helpline - a confidential telephone information and referral service.  Calls are answered by trained health professionals able to provide information on cancer and cancer treatment, and to put callers in touch with their nearest support services.

$20 will help train a Cancer Council volunteer.  These volunteers are cancer survivors who provide one-to-one support for people diagnosed with cancer.  Many cancer patients feel that the support and encouragement they receive through this service enhance overall care and recovery.

$50 will help fund clinical trials which test new and better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer - ensuring cancer patients have access to new treatments and the best care.

$100 will go towards the cost of funding ground-breaking research into the causes of cancer and into new and improved treatments.  Significant advances have been achieved through research with the Australian cancer mortality rate decreased by 17% over 10 years, and at it's lowest level since the 1970's.
